Trip Summary****

22 July (day 1)

Airport pickup and hotel check in.

Free time to relax and enjoy the town and surroundings

23 July (day 2)

Kayaking (participants must know how to swim)

On this trip, we take go from Longyearbyen and over to Hiorthamn. At the beginning of the 20th century, this was an old mining settlement, but in recent times this has become a popular cottage area with a view of Longyearbyen.
Along the seaside you can find old buildings from mining era, such as the cable car station and mining trestle.

Here you can come across seabirds, arctic foxes, and reindeer. If you’re lucky we may even see belugas!

On the way back, we pick up litter as our partner focuses on sustainability and nature conservation.

Return to the hotel for lunch / rest

Wilderness Evening

We will be picked up at your hotel and driven out to the camp in the Advent Valley, passing areas associated with mining and Northern Lights research.

Feel the warmth from the crackling fire as your hosts serve you the locally-sourced meal of the day – reindeer soup – accompanied by an equally good drink. Conclude the evening with homemade cake and kettle coffee brewed on the fire while your hosts provide a fascinating presentation about polar bears. Before returning to Longyearbyen, you will have time to view the landscape surrounding the camp and shoot a great photo or two.

24 July (day 3)

Fjord Safari with Glacier Hike

We sail through the beautiful landscape around the Isfjord to Trygghamna, a historic fjord arm near the mouth of the Isfjord. The highlight of the day awaits there: glacier hiking on the Harrietbreen glacier.

25 July (day 4)

Walrus Safari

Experience the walrus on our RIB boat tour to Borebukta, where these fascinating marine mammals are often observed on the ice in front of the glacier, in the water, and on land. Here, you will also encounter mighty glacier fronts and a distinctive fjord and mountain landscape.

Keep an eye out for wildlife in the water during the crossing of Isfjorden. It’s not just walruses that we may be lucky enough to see on this trip. In recent years, there have been many whale sightings in the fjords around Longyearbyen, and the birdlife is abundant at this time of year. With an open RIB boat, we get closer to nature, and you can enjoy a full panoramic view.

26 July (day 5)

ATV Safari (valid driving license required)

Ride ATVs through Svalbard’s summer landscape, where deep valleys and high mountains are home to the Svalbard reindeer and polar fox.

We’ll make several stops along the way at historical sites where guides will share their knowledge and personal insights about the nature, coal mines and culture.
It is not uncommon to see the Svalbard reindeer grazing on the tundra and in the summer months there is a rich and unique bird life.
We’ll visit our good friends in the dog yard of Svalbard Husky.
We take a break here for coffee and snacks before driving back.

27 July (day 6)
